Sunday class with Lera

We conducted Hilot Recipe class today here at the Shrine of Luntiang Aghama. I woke up early to prepare for this class. Yesterday we re arrange the Shrine hall to make it more spacious.

On this hall we comduct classes, ritual and even healing session. On normal days we do online job in this place as well. But today is not an ordinary day.

I dress up and prepare a lesson and activity for Hilot Recipe: A formula and procedure for Herbal Medicine.

Lera Padua our new Hilot of Antipolo City who is also a Reiki practitioner is our student for Hilot Herbal.

After lunch when we are about to do an actual herbal preparation. There was a walk in patient who ask to be treated on her frozen shoulder. So we entertain her. I thought it was only a minor frozen shoulder case but as i made an assessment, i found out it more than a frozen shoulder.

I check her pulse and it tell me a problem on her small intestine. I ask her eating and excretory habit and her response was ok. Then i do tawas using water and ask the taste of it and her response was bitter. So from there i learn that her frozen shoulder has a deeper level of causation.

I prepare jathropa and banana leaves for pagsasala. As i start to do the pagpapahid, the patient start to burp. Then i do stretching on her shoulders and i found it both locked. So i start to manipulate and apply some hilot massage stroke on her scapula. I warned her that it will be painful and i told her that it is ok to shout if she feel so much pain. When i do the stretching of both arms she could not even make a 45 degree stretch and little movement of the arm is painful already.

So i relax her muscles on the back on lumbar and thoracic area. But as i apply my hands on her back near the heart she start to cry and mention names. So the Frozen Shoulder treatment now becomes an exorcism ritual.

The Frozen shoulder condition signifies her bondage from her emotional prison from her love life. Aa she shout out for a name of a guy that according to her friend was her boyfriend and when i ask her who she is she mention different name than hers.

I commanded for the spirit to lift up the pain she inflict on my patient. She shout terribly like in pain and blew out by vomiting.

After she was released and get back to her senses, i ask her to raise her arms stretched above her heads and amazingly she can raise it up to 90 degrees.

The days work is conplete and well accomplished. Lera’s class today is a success with an added lesson on bondage breaking and exorcism.

To Serve your purpose

If you are a Hilot, you do not see people that comes to you as a man nor a woman; young or old; rich or poor. You do not see them as people of their religion, ethnicity, tribe, nationality or race.

You see them as a Soul that needs help. Healing. Love and Care. It doesn’t matter if they have money or not. What is important is that they trust you to restore their wellness back into their life.

This is the Heart of Hilot. To serve your purpose in the community where you belong. To serve your purpose to Humanity. To serve your purpose to all creatures. To serve your purpose to the world.

Nanay greets me on my 40th Birthday

This was last year when i celebrate my 40th Birthday and i was in Novaliches that time attending to my Kaduwa Family. She was recovering that time and very inconvinient if she travel long distance. So instead of going to greet me in person she send a video message through my sister Facebook.

Now on my 41st Birthday im already home but my Nanay now is in the otherworld.

Today i pray that God will allow my Nanay to cross again to our world and once more i will hear again her voice and feel her.

Nanay i already missed you already and i am here for you to heal your soul.

Vitex Negundo aka Lagundi

Yesterday i harvested some of our Lagundi through trimming and have collected its flowers to make a tincture syrup.

I added giner, peppercorn, cloves and honey and let it sit for 30 days.

Vitex Negundo or Lagundi has anti inflamatory, astringent, anti bacterial, anti fungal, analgesic, alterant, depurative, rejuvenating and stomachic properties.

These descriptions sounds too pharmaceutical but in short Lagundi has many medicinal properties that could help your medical condition. In fact Lagundi is one of the 10 approved Medicinal Herbs by the Philippine Department of Health.

So Lagundi is not just a natural food suplement but it is categorized as Herbal Medicine.

On this formula that we make, it is good to use for diarhea, cholera, fever; and diseases of the liver as well as cardiac tonic.

It is also found that Lagundi has anti oxidant activity atributed to the presence of Phenolic compounds like Flavanoids and Flavonols. It is also considered as Anti Anxiety herbs and also been found to possess Anti RT substances that has beneficial treatment for HIV 1.

With so much pride and excitement, We would like to welcome our newest member in the Hilot Academy of Binabaylan LERA PADUA for successfully completed the Hilot Pahid: The Art and Science of Philippine Wellness Massage this May 5, 2019. Lera is an Energy Healer practicing Reiki and Pranic Healing. She took Hilot to integrate our Indigenous Healing Arts and Science with her Energy Healing modality. Aside from Integration, Lera would love to learn more about our Indigenous and Cultural HEaling Modalities that is our Pride as a Filipino.

Initially Lera took Hilot Pahid: The Art and Science of Philippine Wellness Massage. During our Class, we have shared to her that PAhid is the appropriate term for Filipino Wellness Massage rather than Hilot because Hilot is the General Term for Medicine. WE also have shared to Lera that Massage is just one of the many Modalities that been practised in Hilot and in order to be a proficient Manghihilot one must master all the skill level that been recommended to become a Manghihilot.

So in taking Hilot Pahid Course what you will become is just a MAssage Therapist; but in order to become a Qualified Manghihilot you have to take all the Skills Competency required to become a Manghihilot.

Hilot as we define it is the Traditional Medicine of the Philippines. It is the sum total of Knowledge, Skills and practices based on the theories, beliefs, and experiences indigenous to different cultures, whether explicable or not, used in the maintenance of health as well as in the prevention, diagnosis, improvement or treatment of Physical and Mental Illness.

SO in order to become a qualified Manghihilot, you must know how to perform the Traditional Alternative Wellness Analytic System or Tawas. We must know how to determine the cause of an illness and check on the status of the current health of our Patient. We also have shared that aside from Hilot Pahid, a manghihilot also must know the use of herbs, Heat, Light, Time and Prayer in affecting cure to our patient.

But for now, Hilot Academy congratulates and Welcome you to our group of Manghihilot.

Hilot is Not a Business

As Manghihilot we do not seek for people get sick so that we could heal them, but rather we open our homes to people who need our help. We do not make business of our skills to earn a living but we offer people to extend their life through our craft.

We do not take pleasure if people are suffering from pain. Our heart are being crushed as we see our patient suffer from extreme pain due to their illness.

As Manghihilot we are not business man but rather we are teachers. Not a professional one but we teach our patient how to take care of them selves. We do not hold our patient for long to earn money from them, but instead we expect our patient to become a Manghihilot too as they beem healed by Hilot.

Learning Hilot is not through theory but rather by experience. Hilot does not claim that we have scientific explanation for everything but we explain things as how we experience it. Hilot does not have written records or books to study the art of healing, but we learn Hilot from experts who have a long year of experience in providing it to the community.

Expertise and reputation of Manghihilot is not based on Certificate and Diploma but through the number of people and cases s/he provide hilot.

Pakikiramay or Condolences: A Hilot for the Family who have died a love one

As i practice Hilot over the years, i am learning new things on my daily practice as i provide Hilot to the people especially to my Family Members. I learn Hilot not only as a Physical Medicine that heals the body but also as a medicine that could heal the soul. All of us wanted to live a happy life and Hilot could help us obtain it by having a healthy Body, Mind and Soul. Holistic Wellness as i learn into my journey does not only rely on the Physical Health but also on how a certain body will welcome Death.

img20190221153704-312668394.jpgOn April 19, 2019 by 8:30 PM my Beloved Mother Raquel Payco Gomez Comon have already crossed the veil to the After Life peacefully. She have survived Mutliple Stroke, Chronic Kidney Disease and Hip Replacement Surgery at the age of 68. She have received love and care from our Family members specially from her Husband and Children. Allopathic and Traditional Health care have been implemented to her as well as Emotional and Spiritual care have been provided.

As my Mother’s caregiver and Hilot, Healing have been applied to her successfully that for 4 months of caring she had enjoyed life with us her family. Now that my mother have passed away, healing and caring is continually given not to her body but now to her soul and to the souls of her family member. Nightly vigil and visitation for the condolences from the People whom my mother have touched will help her soul to reach peacefully her place in the afterlife as well as for us to receive comfort and healing.

My Mother is my number 1 fan and advocate in Hilot Academy and through her i made a vow to advance Traditional, Indigenous and Natural Medicine in the Philippines. As my mother strive her best to make a one foot step forward, I believe that our Hilot will be the same.

I thought to my self that i will give up Hilot, but through her spirit i was encourage to continue this devotion of promoting Hilot as Traditional Medicine in the Philippines.

Hangin Lamig now has commercial remedy

One of the Maladies that Hilot can cure is what we call Pilay Hangin or Pilay Lamig. Many FIlipino would tell when they are sick that they are “Nahanhinan” or “Nalamigan”.

“Pilay” is the accurate term for being sick rather than “Sakit” because the later word describe the severity of pain when the person is sick. Most People confuse “Pilay” to fracture but if we dig in Philosophically indeed “Pilay” is a result of breaking from the natural law thus we get sick.

Pilay Hangin is an illness caused by Wind. Such as Colic Pain, Chest Pain and even heartburn pain. It is a condition where air is trapped within the hollow vessels within our body such as the stomach, lungs, heart, bladder, etc.

Whereas Pilay Lamig or cold syndrome is an illness that affects the flow of natural fluid within our body that blocks its natural flow. Usually we feel lumps has been developed in our shoulder, neck, armpit and legs.

Natural Environmental condition can also contribute for having these illnesses to man. Thus our ancestors got a cure for these illnesses and now we can find them at Commercial Drug Store.

LOLA REMEDIOS

I first encounter Lola Remedios Sachet Syrup when i was working in a BPO Company in Quezon City. I didn’t feel well as my work that time requires me to serve on a night shift. I got cough, flu and almost feverish but i can not leave my post. So i take a break and went to a nearby convenience store and saw Lola Remedios.  At first i am sceptic about the product. But as i look at what it is made of i bought it and tried it to my self and it works well with me. The Convenience of buying Lola Remedios is that it is quick and ready made. You will just tear off the sachet and put it in your mouth to drink the syrup. After 15 minutes i am relieved. It was indeed an instant remedy that is within reach.

Though this product is important from Indonesia by Kino Consumer Philippines Inc. and packed according to the taste of the Filipino.

TULAK ANGIN ( WIND PUSHER)

This is another brand of Herbal Supplements that is introduced to the Philippines from Indonesia which is called Tulak Angin. “Tulak” means Push and “Angin” means Air. The video above can be a source of inspiration to all of our Manghihilot to believe on the power of their medicine which your grow by your self. Like in the video, Sidumuncul spend time on their studies perfecting the medicine they provide for the people.

Though again, this herbal supplement product is imported from Indonesia.

Filipino Salabat

With the importation of these Herbal Supplements, Filipino’s are relying on to the imported brand rather patronising our local products and services. The role of Manghihilot is diminishing due to the giving of High Priority of the Philippine Government to these imported Products.

But for a long time, Filipino used Salabat or Ginger Brew to cure these maladies.

Let us watch Doctor Liza Ramoso Ong on how to make Salabat.

Hilot in The Generic Pharmacy

Hilot is now being advertised by The Generic Pharmacy.

Indeed Hilot can provide cure to other people, but in contrast to this video produced by The Generic Pharmacy we also can give cure to our selves through natural medicine that Nature Provides. This video has a shed of truth to some practitioners, but devoted Hilot will trust the power of Nature to heal.

I am not endorsing The Generic Pharmacy but it is good enough that they provide cheap and quality medicine to the Public. But i hope that People will also patronize Hilot as a form of Traditional and Natural Medicine that is available in every Barangay.

Me and taking Responsibility

Hilot Academy observes the Month of April as Baybayin Month. In celebration of this month of Baybayin, we would like to share some words written in Baybayin and its meaning.

Today we are going to learn how to read and write the word “AKO” as shown in the picture below.

AKO BAYBAYIN.png

“AKO” is a first person singular pronoun that means “I” or “Me”.

But it can also mean to take responsibility.
