Me and taking Responsibility

Hilot Academy observes the Month of April as Baybayin Month. In celebration of this month of Baybayin, we would like to share some words written in Baybayin and its meaning.

Today we are going to learn how to read and write the word “AKO” as shown in the picture below.

AKO BAYBAYIN.png

“AKO” is a first person singular pronoun that means “I” or “Me”.

But it can also mean to take responsibility.

Deep Healing

img201903032018061571567571.jpgWe might influence the body to be healed through the medicine we give to our patient, but if their mind is not willing to accept and receive the medicine we give, our healing will not work.

I observe people who take our medicine, they refuse it because it is bitter. Indeed bitter herbs will make them better and because it doesn’t taste good, people refuse to take it in.

Here we see that people keep on focusing on what is bad and not is good. They hold it in their mouth for so long that they keep tasting the bitterness. They could not swallow it because its bitter. But what they do not know, once the medicine pass through the mouth they will not taste the bitterness anymore and our body will transform the bitterness into medicine that would take effect by distributing it to the corresponding organs in order for healing begin.

The state of mind is also important in healing. We may force the body to accept our medicine but it will only provide temporary relief. And when the pain comes back we would take again the drug to suppress the pain and we become dependent.

Hilot healing aims to restore the natural body functions of our patient by not becoming dependent on the medicine we provide. The real medicine we give to our patient is for them to be more responsible in taking care of their health to live their life to the fullest.

Past issues of our life specially the unpleasant one becomes our bitterness in life. These past issues are the ones remind us to get angry and mad. This is the one we continually keep that made us suffer.

Physical manipulation wont take away that life issue. Physical touch will just give a temporary comfort and relief so as the Bio Chemical effect of herbal medicine will not last for long. The memory will come back again and again until the person will not release that emotion from their heart. Total surrender to the Divine Will is necessary in order for deep healing to take effect in our life.

With these method of healing, you are not only healed Physically but also emotionally and spiritually. This is what makes Hilot differ from other healing modality.

Why Healing oil is the common medicine for the rural Filipino?

Aside from being econimically cheap and within reach it also help relieve common sign and symtoms that prevent illness and disease.

Healing Oil has been a Powerful Tool of many Filipino in Healthcare even prior to Colonization and arrival of modern Medicine in the Philippines.

It is prescribed by our Ancestors that has direct lineage to our God which we call us Anito. This belief has been strengthen when the Kingdom of India have reached out our Country during the 3rd to 6th Century.

The belief that the oil derived from the Coconut is a by product of the Divine Body of the Gods Ulilang Kaluluwa ( lonely soul) and Galang Kaluluwa (wondering soul) in the Katagalugan Pantheon.

While in Mindanao by the Talaandig Tribe it was prescribed by their Holy Propher Apu Agbibilin to use Coconut oil and Lemon grass in Peace Making as a sign of the God Magbabaya through the God of Peace Agta Yabun Magbaya.

Our Healing Oil is made from 4 nutritive Base Oil blended with Sacred Healing Herbs.

Healing Sanctuary

Hilot is an Indigenous Healing art that is native to the Philippines. It also incorporate massage as one of its healing modality.

Unlike in Massage Therapy which is a foreign modality that is not native in the Philippines, Hilot Masahe is curative rather than relaxing massage. Hilot treats Patient and not just a client, customer, or guest.

This is why modern Massage Therapist ended up in prostitution because the Government Stardardization committee in Massage Therapy forbid the use of the word “Patient” to those who are recieving massage.

This system has been followed also by Tesda Hilot Wellness which follow the same principle implemented by DoH Licensed Massage Therapist.

The system of Home Service Massage and fly by night Spa loosen the therapeutic value of massage.

In Traditional Hilot, we follow the law of Nature. We only treat on day time and not during the night. We even treat our patient on direct sunlight and not on a dim room naked.

Authentic Indigenous Hilot practitioner are not limited giving their craft to anyone who seeks for it. Instead of going to the home of their patient, the Manghihilot open up their own home to be a healing sanctuary for their patient.

Hilot is not found in Spa but in the practitioners Home.

Hilot is our own Healing Modality

Hilot is not just a massage so the Licensed Massage Therapists shoulf not be threatened to loose their jobs because of the rise of modern Hilot.

But in fact, Hilot is the earliest form of Healing in the Philippines and many Manghihilot loose their Jobs and Profession with the rise of Modern Medicine.

The Traditional Manghihilot does not complain when the Philippine Government give importance to the Licensed Massage Therapist by creating the Sanitation Act Law.

The Traditional Manghihilot also hoping to be recognized through the Philippine Traditional and Alternative Medicine Act but instead of recognition, still Hilot are being ignored and accused of being unscientific. What this act recognized are Western Modalities and give them highest respect and call them Doctors such as those who Practice Homeopathy, Naturopathy, Acupuncture, Ayurveda and Chiropractic.

But the Manghihilot and Albularyo still branded as Quack Doctors.

University of the Philippines through Philippine Institute of Traditional and Alternative Healthcare had a convention on Herbal Medicine, but when i inquire about the event i was not accepted to attend because the convention is an event with a payment.

So those who will benefit from modern studies on Herbs are those who have money who can control the market and not the common people.

The Common People will remain as consumer and patient and never will learn to control their life.

Tesda has given hope the common people to take charge of their health by teaching Hilot Wellness Massage, but DoH Licensed Massage Therapist are discrediting Tesda for giving scholarship to the common people in learning Hilot.

The accuse Hilot Wellness Massage NC2 are stealing jobs for the LMT’s but in reality the LMT have long time stole the livelihood and profession of the Manghihilot in the Philippines.

Hilot is for everyone and it is not for only one person. It is not mine to claim that i am Hilot. You are not required to be Certified or Licensed to become a Hilot.

Our Academy only help our graduates to remember the kind of Medicine that their Ancestors have taught them from generation to generation. So there is no standard procedures in doing Hilot.

As Each Patient is has individual differences, so as the type of Hilot Applied to each patient is different and unique.

Unlike in Massage Therapy, their sequences only circulate on Efflurage, Petrissage, Friction, Tapotement and Vibration; but Hilot goes beyond the Physical Manipulation and pass through the mental, emotional, social and spiritual aspect of each individual.

Aside from treating the body, we need to secure also the patients behaviour, its lifestyle and its environment. Healing will not come if these aspect is ignored.

So Licensed Massage Therapist dont be envious with Hilot, because our Craft is far more different from your scope of Practices.

Tawas: A Hilot method of Diagnosis

Tawas is an abstract form of communication whereas the practitioner of Tawas gather information from the subject utilizing tools such as paper, water, candle, oils and others to observe and analyze form and symbols. It is a indigenous art of Divination and Diagnosis practiced by rural folks to determine the cause of illness.

In Hilot or Philippine Traditional Medicine, the cause of illness is not limted to Physical factor but also through emotional, mental, social and spiritual factor thus Filipino believe in Usog, Buyag, Gaba, Bati, Kulam, Engkanto and Multo.

Ancient Filipino view life as a Divine Gift so as in having illness is viewed as a punishment. In this concept of life, Health is a condition of life where you are experiencing good health which is known as kaginhawaan and bad health condition as karamdaman. Wellness and Illness condition of man is a result of mans response in doing their life purpose.

Life is characterized by motion and movement, so in the concept of life purpose there must have growth and progression. When growth and progression is absent into one person not only physically but holistically, Tawas is performed to determine the malady that causes illness and implement cure.

Tawas ritual start with silencing of the mind of both the pratitioner and the recipient. The Magtatawas will ask permission to the Divine Creator to allow him or her be used as a medium of healing and will call on the Higher and Lower self of the patient.

Then using a small piece of blank paper, the magtatawas will swipe it over around the body of the patient from head, shoulder, arms, hands, chest, stomach, legs, feet, and back parts of the body.

The magtatawas will put 3 drops of oil to the palm of the patient and will place the paper on it and be covered with another palm and start to connect one another in a prayer position.

The praying hands will be placed in front of the heart, then to fore head and lastly to the stomach with the paper still inside the praying hands. And the magtatawas will ask the patient to release the hands and will get the paper and will introduce it to the flames of the consecrated lamp or candle and will read the shapes and symbols formed.

From our last Tawas workshop that was held on November 25, 2018 at the Shrine of Luntiang Aghama in San Jose Del Monte City, Bulacan they reported that while doing tawas they are like looking at a story board as the read the images formed in the Paper Tawas. Their Psychic senses has also been enhanced and was able to develop Empathy which is essential in doing Healing Works.

From our Workshop we have produced the Millenial Magtatawas from the persons of the following:

  • Doctor Aris Siazon (Doctor of Homeopathy)
  • Wilma Villalba
  • Rovie Dela Cruz
  • Meliton Siazon

Congratulations to our new Magtatawas and welcome to Hilot Academy of Binabaylan.

Burping during Hilot Session

Have you experience a manghihilot that burps a lot when doing Hilot? Do you believe that the manghihilot absorbs your negative energy and release it through burping?

Well probably the Manghihilot eats a lot thats why when he do hilot he burps a lot.

But seriously, manghihilot does not absorp negative energy, as manghihilot do heals he or she raise energy within his/her body that creates heat and burn his/her own energy thats why s/he burp. The one s/he burn and release through burping is his/her own energy.

Remember in doing hilot it is not only the client who recieves healing but also the manghihilot.

So when a manghihilot burps a lot during the healing session, s/he is burning too much negative energy within his/her body and release it from his/her body.

The form of releasing negative energy from the client is through burping also, farting, oerspiration, urination or even pooing.

Healing Crisis

This video demonstrate what happens to a person who is recieving Hilot.

When a sick person comes to manghihilot, the person is being filled with clean energy upto the brim and overflow.

Watch the bubble (which is the toxin within the body, this may represent negative energies that affect also the mind, emotion and the spirit).

As clean energy comes in to the body (represented by the faucet water) the unclear energy is being brought up and expelled out, but cleansing doesnt stop there becuase it needed to be thoroughly cleansed.

When someone feel that their ailments become aggravated, that means all negative energies have been purged out. The same thing happen in soul healing. The person will experience mood swings, hatred, bad luck and so on until overflowing love and blessings will flourish.

The work of healing does not stop in addressing pain but ot should work continuesly until we gain the expected result.

When all is well then, the patient becomes now the vessel of possitive energy that s/he also becomes a healer.

The cost of Healthcare

Last time i went to the hospital to let my nephew who is just two years old be checked by a pediatrician. After a long qeue, the name of my nephew have been called and its time for us to seat in front of the Doctors desk.

Without lifting her butt on the chair, the doctor write on her prescription pad for the medicine we should administer to my nephew and a recommendation for a laboratory test for his blood and urine then the doctor asked us to come back when the laboratory result has been made for her to interpret.

Then we left her office and go straight ahead to the cashier to pay the Doctors fee of Php 450.00 ; then we go to the Pharmacy to buy the prescribed medicine the doctoe gave us that cost Php 1,000.00; then we go to the Laboratory and pay again Php 500.00 for the Urine and Blood Test; and on the other day i alone come back to the doctors office for the Laboratory result interpretation that luckily i only pay Php 50.00 for the Hospital Charge.

If we will sum up all the money we spend, it cost me Php 2,000.00 or USD 37.21. This is the cost now for modern Health Care and not all people could afford to have spend Php 2,000.00 a day.

I feel so sorry that i have not that enough time to spend my days with my nephew and family member. If only the principles of Hilot could be applied daily in our life, we could prevent illness like this and much more serious and chronic diseases.

Every home should have someone who knows the Arts and Science of Hilot in preventing and curing simple ailments that will save them from unnecessary expenses such as from hospitalization.

The true cost of Traditional Healthcare is this. It can be seen from the letter that spelled out the word Hilot which is the letter “o” which stands for Oras or time. Spending time with our love ones will prevent the development of illness. We can protect them from any possible harm that might endanger them to our surroundings. And with the time we spend, we could also share our love to them which is the most Powerful Healer in the world that give us life.

Live and Let Live!
