Take Hilot as a Whole and not by Parts

In taking Hilot as part of reclaiming of our National Identity must not conform to the modern standards of society. Hilot is our own Traditional and Natural Medicine that has own diagnostic and treatment method.

Our Government is spending money in making research to revive the Hilot as Philippines Traditional and Complementary Medicine but if their focus is just on reclaiming Hilot as a form of Massage, then it is a waste of time and money.

If the Core group is focusing on Hilot as Massage, then let all hilot masahista be regulated by DoH CEMT and be licensed professional. But Hilot research must also include the traditional diagnostic method which is Tawas.

In 2009 as i remember, there is a Party List representative in Quezon City who sponsor the study of Hilot Wellness Massage that merge the study of Hilot Massage into Swedish Massage. Her reason why she make this learning program aside from the employablity reason also she want to make it more scientific and less superstitious and animistic.

In our forum, it always said that people reject the use and practice of Tawas because it is a Pagan Culture and most Filipino are Christians.

It is true that modern Filipino are now Christians, but Hilot is not a Christian modality. Hilot is a healing modality that been taught by the Babaylan to the People; and the Babaylan are the Priest of the Diwata and Anito who are the ancient God of the Filipino people which predates Christianity and Islam.

Through this sacred science and art of Healing that been taught to us by the Babaylan, our present generation exist. But through colonialism, our own identity as a nation have been poisoned and become westernized.

Now we have come to an age of decolonization as a form of detoxifying our cultural identity and rebooting our selves again according to our very own setting (like an android or smart phone reboot into factory setting), we have to accept all and not just part.

If you only reclaim Hilot in a form of Massage, then you are a Massage Therapist and not Hilot.

Manghihilot Festival

Healing Festival is already an existing project of the Local Government of Siquijor as the province was known to be an Island of Magick and Healing.

Great healers can be found in this province and sad to say government agencies doesnt give any support from them except to the DILG, DTI and Department of Tourism.

People around the world travel by air, land and seas to witness and experience the healing wonders of the Filipino that are concentrated in Siquijor Islands; that every Holy Week local healers found their own pride and identity as Filipino Healer.

But great Healers in the Philippines are not all can be found in Siquijor. They are scattered all around the Philippines. And we in the academy have been blessed to participate on the annual event in Siquijor.

This year, on October 28 you do not need to go to Siquijor just to become part of this Annual Healing Festival. We are making Manghihilot Festival to be part of municipality, city and provinces as part of our cultural heritage and tourism industry.

The Babaylan and Hilot

The Babaylan are called differently from different ethnic tribes in the Philippines.

In the Katagalugan Region, the Babaylan are known as Katalona and from the Katalona there are babaylan who do specific task such as the healer is known as Manggagamot; Herbalist as Lubus; Spiritual Medium as Anitero/ Anitera; Diviner as Manghuhula; and midwife as Hilot.

The work of Hilot is derived from the authority and power of the Babaylan.

The knowledge of Manghihilot is derived from the wisdom of the Babaylan which are the eldest amongst the Human creation of the Diwata.

In ancient times of our History, the Babaylan are the counselor of the tribal Chief and the mediator of the People to the Divine.

The counsel of the Babaylan help people to cross to the light from Darkness.

Now-a-days, the work of manghihilot must have a Divine ordination and not a mundane institutionalization and standardization.

There is no government instution who can lead the work of manghihilot but the institution that been bestowed by the Divine to the Babaylan.

Our Youtube Account is suspended

I am trying to upload video on our youtube channel for Hilot TV. This video content that i have uploaded on Facebook does not allow by youtube as they determine it to violate their community standard.

The case on which they suspend our YouTube account is spam, scams or commercially deceptive content. According to their standard, this is how they define this standard:

So in their definition, we are accused of creating misleading descriptions, tags, titles of thumb nails; where as we upload video of the 5 manipulative strokes in Hilot Massage that focuses on applying oil that we call Pahid.

This incident of suspending our youtube channel is very sad on my part as i give effort on developing and creating content that will spread awareness of our very own Traditional Healing modalities, but since we are in social media, the people behind these platform seems to be the experts in these modalities.

I feel that Youtube doesnt want people to know new things and wanted only to rely on the content what Youtube provide in the Public.

Social Media such as Youtube, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and all other platform such as these and WordPress have a very powerful role in influencing peoples mind as people now-a-days are so much hooked on these platform.

And these platform becomes the world standard of modern learning as people around the world use it everyday and every moment in their lives not only as to relieve their ignorance and sadness but also to reach out people across the seas and continents.

People uses these platforms to like and be liked so as to earn a heart from millions of people who live across this planet. Aside from gaining likes and hearts, we also gain knowledge from the contents created every moment, seconds, minutes, hours, days, weeks, months, and years.

Well for the content creator who spend all of their time and effort in creating, i salute you for being so wonferful in doing all of your stuffs; and for me, well i have to wait until next time that i could post again my content in youtube or better yet if i have sufficient fund i will upgrade my subsctiption to wordpress to be able to upload video through VideoPress.

There are many other things that Hilot Academy could provide to the world as the world need to know about Hilot. We are using these platforms to re introduce our Ancient Healing Arts but as for now, we are limited to do it only on the real world.

I hope that we could see each other personally on the traditional face to face encounter and not only in social media like this.

Binat: The post partum blues

Last night meeting with the core group of manghihilot as we worked on correcting some learning outcome for Hilot Wellness Training Standards, we have talked about Suob as remedy for Binat.

It has been discussed that Binat is a condition of woman after delivering a child that might affect her mental health. As it has been described that during pregnancy, the expectant mother have beem used to have carrying the weight of the baby in her body and after delivery, her body is adjusting for the sudden weight loss.

As i see it and can be likened into jet lag of traveling from east to west crossing the time line, our body is adjustimg to the climate difference and as well to our body clock.

With these sudden changes, our body works to adopt on the situation. And if our body doesnt adjust, it give us an uncomfortable condition that we can equate to illness.
