Unlike spa, the client choose what kind of treatment they want to have. But in Hilot, we as specialist are the one who decide which treatment our client should have. But how do we determine which Hilot Treatment we should provide for our client? And that is through our Hilot Diagnostic Procedures.
As Manghihilot, we know that there are only 2 types of illness and that is the spiritual illness and the physical illness. So, how do we determine if the client has physical illness or a spiritual illness?
We can determine this through finger alignment method. If the finger is not aligned we know that there is a spiritual cause of an illness from there we will investigate which elemental spirits that affects the client then we perform tawas diagnosis.
After we perform the tawas ritual we will give our personal remarks or observation on the tawas then we will ask the client to give feedback so that we can make analysis. After we analyze we will give our recommendation and ask the client for consent for the treatment procedures we plan to perform for them.
If the illness is caused physically after finger alignment we will do pulse reading analysis and we will give our remarks and recommendation and ask consent if we could perform to the client the treatment plan we have to help them restore their well being.
Over the years, Hilot Academy of Binabaylan is working out to preserve and promote Philippine Indigenous Traditional Medicine which is known as Hilot by inviting those who have been called by our Ancestors to relearn this sacred knowledge of our Ancestral Healing Arts and Science.
And this coming August 2024, Apu Adman and Lakay Magbaya is coming to the US as we are invited by Danvile Yoga and Wellness to share this Ancestral Healing Arts among Filipino that was born in the US or even non Filipino that has a calling to take the duties and responsibilities as Hilot Binabaylan.
As we come there, we will come with a 3 program in serving everyone so that you may reach this goal.
First is the 8 days Hilot Binabaylan Training which is an entry level that will initiate you in ministering the people by delivering Indigenous Traditional Filipino Health Care.
The other 2 program are the Continuing Education Program which will serve our graduates. First to those who have taken the Non Contact Hilot Mind and Spirit Work which was ordained as Magaanito, Magtatawas, Pangatauhan and Pangutanahan to level up their status as full pledged Hilot Binabaylan.
Then the other one is for those who have been ordained as Hilot Binabaylan Practitioner from 2016 to 2023 which we provide you a one step ladder to upgrade your status from being a practitioner to a Mentor.
It’s been since 2019 when our Hilot Binabaylan of Lafayette, California had made request to learn Hilot Binabaylan Techniques and on February 5-14, 2024, that his dream of becoming a Hilot Binabaylan manifested. Though like what I always say during the training, we are not the one who makes an individual a Hilot Binabaylan ; just like in the Principles of Healing, that all of us has the ability to heal our selves. Our role as a trainer is just what Kai Bautista, which is our Hilot Binabaylan of Glendale, California have described, as trainer/teacher, we are like an alarm clock that awaken to knowledge of healing that sleeps within us; we are just like a guide that reminds an individual of the dormant knowledge of healing that lies within us all.
Such as on the case of Walter Sanches, he came with a knowledge of healing already as he work as a Massage Therapist on a Physical Therapy Clinic and Acupuncture Clinic in the US; so our Course that he took with us becomes a refresher and align his knowledge to the Philippine Indigenous Traditional Healing. All the skills of being a Hilot Binabaylan comes out naturally for him and he even take the challenge of doing Tandok or Hijama and did it to me.
Walter is courageous enough in performing Tandok which i am very happy for him and probably among other Hilot Binabaylan that train with us it is only Walter Sanches that could perform Tandok.
Good News to Everyone! Hilot Academy of Binabaylan which is an Educational Ministry of Luntiang Aghama Natural Divine Arts Shrine of Healing Inc. (which is a Center for Philippine Traditional Spiritual Beliefs and Practices) is opening up it’s doors (specially to it’s graduates) for a Continuing Education Program. This program is ideal for those who have taken up the Non Contact Hilot Mind and Spirit work which usually specialize on Hilot Diagnostics Method. This mean that those who have taken the class may now can complete the remaining classes in order to become a full Hilot Binabaylan Practitioner. As we have designed that a Hilot Binabaylan should be able to perform the following competencies:
Hilot Diagnostics which compose of Tawas Spiritual Diagnostics, Kilubansa Elemental Name Energetic Balance Analysis, Pulse Reading Analysis. In our new Curriculum design, we added in this competency the Hilot Profiling method, Physical Assessment and Evaluation and Vital Sign Taking & monitoring, and Sibulan Adlaw Tala Baybayin Mystic Oracle.
Hilot Cleansing Methods which consist of Punas, Babad, Langgas, Mumog, Buhos, Hilod, Suob.
Hilot Treatment Methods which consist of Hilot Tapal or Herbal Poultice Application, Dagdagay/ Kulis Stick Foot Massage, Tawak/Tandok/ Bentusa Fire Cupping, Kayod or Scraping Therapy and Hilot Touch Manipulation Techniques.
Hilot Home Care Supplementation which consist of Herbal home remedies, Bio Energetics Techniques of Unat, KiGa and Indak Movements.
We also encourage all of our graduates from 2016 up to 2023 to have self-evaluation and retake the course or have an update to a class which they have not taken in the past. As all of the above-mentioned competencies are required so that you may upgrade your status on being a Hilot Binabaylan Practitioner to Hilot Binabaylan Mentor.
Mentorship Certification Program
When you take our class in the past, what you have received from us is just a Certificate as Hilot Binabaylan Practitioner. And your duties and responsibilities are only limited in providing Philippine Traditional and Indigenous Health Care into your Community. But through our Mentorship Certification Program, this will enable you to share your knowledge and expertise on the practice of Hilot Binabaylan that may initiate an Individual or group and be ordained as Hilot Binabaylan.
Requirements
Hilot Mentorship Certification is an upgrade opportunity for all of our Hilot Binabaylan Practitioners to earn extra income by becoming a Mentor & Assessor/ Evaluator. So, it is important requirement before you become a Certified Hilot Binabaylan Mentor & Assessor/ Evaluator is that you are a Hilot Binabaylan Practitioner for about 3 years. That means if you have taken the course on 2019, you are qualified to take this course. And it is important that you practice all the skills competencies prescribed in order to become a Hilot Binabaylan Practitioner or you can be a mentor of a specific skills. Such as in skills in the above-mentioned skills competencies.
How will it work?
Mentors candidate must fill up a self-evaluation form before application. It is necessary for mentors to be expert on the field that you are going to mentor or share. It is ideal for us that you should be expert in all field as Hilot Binabaylan so that you could also work as an Evaluator. In order for you to be a Certified Trainer, you have to share your knowledge of the skills you are to mentor during the regular class of Hilot Binabaylan Training and the Trainer (which is me, lakay and Mam Nora) will supervise you in co-training or mentoring. So, that means you have to attend the regular 9 days class and master each subject we teach from Hilot Diagnostics to Hilot Suplementation. Upon completion of training of the regular class of 9 days, additional days will be allotted to you for the trainer’s feedback as mentor and then the awarding of Certificate as Mentor. Upon awarding of Certificate, you are only allowed to mentor a skill which you are being certified depending on your performance if you qualify to become a trainer. If you are qualified on all skills level, you will become a certified trainer or if you only have few skills, you will just be a mentor.
If you want to be evaluated as mentor or trainer, you may bring a student to enroll on our 9 days and we will give you chance to share your knowledge and experience as Hilot Binabaylan by becoming a mentor, co trainer with supervision.
Technical Education and Skills Development Authority or TESDA is an attached Agency of Philippine Department of Labor and Employment which certifies an Individual who have acquired Skills, Knowledge and Abilities on the Qualification and Competencies of being a Hilot (Wellness Massage) Provider. Whereas Philippine Institute of Traditional Alternative Health Care or Pitahc is an attached agency of Philippine Department of Health which register accredited and certified Hilot Practitioner. But these 2 attached agencies of our government advocates the practice of hilot for hospitality service rather than health care. And we here at Hilot Academy of Binabaylan advocates Hilot as a Holistic Health Care Modality that includes Care for the Soul which is inseparable to the Human Body who is alive.
This is why, our Graduation Ceremony invokes the Authority of Luntiang Aghama Natural Divine Arts of Healing Inc. not only in terms of certifying our students but also Ordaining them to the Ministerial Work of Healing. Anointing them with our Lana Healing Oil, is likened to fueling the lamp which radiates light in darkness as our Hilot Binabaylan role in their community is to emit their light on which can help people make their life lighter by removing all the darkness and obstacles that might hinder people to enjoy their optimum health and wellness.
This is our First Graduation and Ordination for 2024, and our next schedule of class will be on February 5-14, 2024. And by February 13, within this cycle we will open to the public to enroll to our 1 day Remedial Hilot Class which only cost Php 3,500.00. Grab this opportunity to learn our Remedial Hilot Technique as you will learn it together with our International Students. Comment in this post for details or email us at apuadman@hilotacademy.com
We made Hilot Academy of Binabaylan listed on Google Business that it help us be found by People such as the one that have made an Inquiry this day and the Question was in Tagalog.
“Magandang Hapon po… Training Center po ba ito for Massage Course? “
Good Afternoon! Is this a training center for Massage Course? -John
I choose not to reveal the face of the person who ask the Question but just like this person, many people still think of Hilot as Philippine Massage and the reason for this is what people can search through Search Engine as the information they have shared about Hilot is Massage. Such as we ask Google about what is Hilot? and this is what we can see:
It is very tough challenge for us in Hilot Academy of Binabaylan to change the thoughts and mindset of people about Hilot and only few of us really understand what Hilot Means. So, in response to the Question that been asked to us.
Hi John! We teach Hilot and not Massage. There is a big difference between Hilot and Massage. in massage they help relieve body illnesses, while in Hilot we do not only provide relief on the Physical Illnesses but also in mental, emotional and soul illness as what we specialize that is why our school is called Hilot Academy of Binabaylan.
response of Apu Adman Aghama
The reason why he ask us because he want to set up a Spa as his business. Though I refer him to look for TESDA school that offers Massage Training so as inform him about the Policy of Philippine Department of Health towards the Practice of Massage in the Philippines. I also encourage him to set up a Hilot Center instead of a Spa. Just like in the practice of Hilot and Massage, there is a big difference between the two modalities of healing. But, in fact, massage is just one modality that is performed in Hilot. And for a wider view, Hilot is about caring and its practitioners are move to heal with compassion and not through compensation.
In order to provide a Hilot Treatment, a person must undergo a thorough Hilot Diagnostic Procedures. It means people who will have Hilot Treatment will not just come to have a Hilot and be relaxed just like in Spa, the Therapist will just provide what their customer want according to their menu. But in Hilot, we the provider will determine what is the right treatment the patient will receive upon determination of the Hilot Diagnostic Results.
This is why at Hilot Academy of Binabaylan, we are upgrading our curriculum so that we can move forward in professionalizing our Practice as Philippine Traditional Indigenous Medicine Practitioner. We are envisioning our Manghihilot in the future, just like the Traditional Chinese Medicine Practitioner are called as a Doctor, so as the Ayurveda, Naturopath, Homeopath, Chiropractor and many others are called as Doctor, we too as Manghihilot will achieve the Recognition as Doctor of Philippine Traditional Indigenous Medicine.
But why Philippine Traditional Indigenous Medicine and not just Philippine Traditional Medicine?
We need to be precise on what we want to call our selves because as of this moment 2024 the Philippine Government has an Agency known as Philippine Institute of Traditional Alternative Medicine or most popularly known as PITAHC. And we could understand it that the Agency under Philippine Department of Health should promote Philippine Traditional Medicine (as we know before as Hilot), but what they are promoting instead of Hilot are other foreign Traditional Medicine that is present in the Philippines such as Acupuncture, Chiropractic, Homeopathy and Naturopathy. You can see it clearly in their social media account on which Traditional Medicine Practices they are promoting. Such as what they have posted in their facebook page on December 11, 2023:
CALABARZON or Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal and Quezon Provinces Center for Health Development conducted Advance Acupuncture Training on selected Local Government Unit and Rural Health Unit personnel. And there is another one in Davao.
What we see in their actions is that they promote what they know well and work well with the one that could serve them well. But what is really happening now, Philippine Traditional Medicine which is Hilot has been set aside but instead focuses on foreign Traditional Medicine which they can market and give them earn a lot. So, we deemed Hilot to be our Philippine Traditional Indigenous Medicine which according to their Intro as:
Last October 26 & 27, 2023- our Hilot Training Team that compose of Me, Lakay and Mam Nora attended to the 3rd Regional Hilot Congress that been Hosted by Philippine Institute of Traditional Alternative Health Care in collaboration with Hilot Philippines Development Center of International School of Sustainable Tourism at International Institute of Rural Reconstruction compound, Brgy. Biga 2, Silang, Cavite, Philippines. The said Congress was attended by Select Manghihilot of Region 4 A CaLaBaRZon or Cavite, Laguna, Batanggas, Rizal and Quezon Province and our Team represents the Cavite Province since we are representing the Municipality of Silang through Hilot Philippines Development Center. Though in reality, I am still at City of San Jose Del Monte, Bulacan; Lakay Magbaya represents City of Taguig, Metro Manila; and only Mam Nora Columna is originally from Cavite Province which is from General Trias City.
The 3rd Regional Hilot Congress has been welcomed by a message from Dr. Nonie John L. Dalisay on behalf of Governor Juanito “Junvic” C. Remulla, where he emphasizes Hilot as traditional health care practices in the past and its effectiveness in terms of health care. Then it was followed by a message from our Managing Director at Hilot Philippines Development Center and President of International School of Sustainable Tourism, the former Secretary of Department of Tourism, Dr. Mina T. Gabor.
In her welcoming message, Dr. Gabor have emphasized the goal of the 21st Century in taking care of one’s self as she pointed out to the commercial and advertisement shown in Televisions and even in Social Media as experts advised that all of us must look good and our Goal must be happy as it will help also our Economy. The HPDC president also reminisces here experience when she was the Tourism Secretary as she was asked to talk about Medical Tourism and Hilot was never been mentioned before but good thing Now, everyone is talking about Hilot and it is about time that all of us will go back to Hilot.
Right after the welcoming message of Former Tourism Secretary, the Director General of Philippine Institute of Traditional Alternative Health Care Dr. Anabelle Pabiona De Gusman was called to give her Welcoming Message to the Participants of 3rd Regional Hilot Congress. In her message she takes pride about the work of PITAHC as she explain why Hilot Congress takes place. In her message She honors the founder of Philippine Traditional Alternative Medicine Act who is Dr. Juan Flavier former DoH Secretary and Philippine Senator. It is through Senator Juan Flavier that emphasizes that Health Center should be a Center for Wellness and not a Center of Illness. Then the Regional Director of Department of Tourism of Calabarzon in the person of Director Maritess Castro that exhort the role of Manghihilot in caring for the Health of the community employing Traditional & Alternative Health Care modalities. And through it, Department of Tourism have a continuous Collaboration with Pitahc in the promotion of Philippine Traditional Hilot through Wellness Tourism.
The Current Department of Health Secretary Dr. Teodoro J. Herbosa also give his message through a recorded Video. He said that: Hilot is deeply engraved in our History embodies Holistic approach in treating illnesses and promoting health and well being of our kababayan.
There are more speakers that speaks grately about Hilot and it is very overwhelming to know that these people recognizes our role in preserving our Indigenous practices of health care and it could be integrated into the Universal Health Care Delivery System. Aside from these prominent people, the practitioners were also able to voice out our sentiment and deliver it to Pitahc to be address it properly and in the End all the participants of the 3rd Regional Hilot Congress were able to create a Declaration where we all agree with as we have been lead by a Dumagat Chieftain and Community Health Worker in pronouncing the Declaration:
Declaration of Support to the Universal Health Care
We as Manghihilot and other Filipino Traditional Healer, Together with the Community Health Worker and Barangay Health Worker do continue to offer our services in our respective comminities in order to achievve our Goals towards Universal Health Care. We desire to strengthen our role in the continuing to help the promotion of Health and prevention from illness by giving primary cure to common and simple illness through safe, effective and affordable treatment, and by referring to appropriate professional and health center and hospital to cases of chronic illnesses.
As Certified and Recognized Barangay Health Worker, Community Health Worker, Manghihilot and other Traditional Medicine Practitioner, It is our Prayer that we will be formally recognize and include us as part of the Rural Health Unit in the community where we belong. Signed this 27th Day of October 2023 in Silang, Cavite on the 3rd Regional Hilot Congress and Pista ng Gamutang Pilipino.
This year of 2023, as the world open up again after the Pandemic Era of Covid 19, we have closed our Hilot Online Class and open up again our in person, face-to-face class which is the 8 days Hilot Binabaylan Training. For this year we have made 7 new Hilot Binabaylan and they are the following:
Lani BrownMaria, Grace & KiaCarolina NimmerKira TejadQuhyn Vy a Vietnamese American Hilot Binabaylan
Then we have a Masidhing Manghihilot Class from Australia
Argo Theoharis, Apu Adman & Nawa Sybico
Then we have been visited by Jutheanne Cruz from Hilot Touch and School of Kapwa in London and had her 1 day Hilot Orientation Workshop in our Shrine here in Bulacan.
Lakay, Jutheanne Cruz & Apu
And lastly a 2 days Orientation workshop for Rio which is also from London.
Rio, Apu & Lakay
We still have 2 months left before 2023 ends and we are still expecting for confirmation for those who have expressed their desire to learn and be initiated to the path of Manghihilot. And this year, I received feedback from our students now fellow practitioner to extend the days of training as 8 days are not enough for them to learn the techniques. Indeed the 8 days training are just basic techniques but these techniques are good enough as a foundation for everyone to develop your own signature style of treatment and we will still apply this training up to the end of 2024. But on 2025, we are going to implement on that time our Updated Hilot Binabaylan course which will be longer and may take more that 8 days and our goal in providing the Upgraded Training are the following:
To enable our students to embody in this present generation the concept and principles of the Philippine Traditional Indigenous Medicine by becoming an Authentic Manghihilot which is Hilot Binabaylan.
To initiate our Students on our Filipino Ancestral Valuing system of Life and to the practice of Traditional Indigenous Health Care.
To train our students in Developing Analytic Mind through our Tawas Diagnosis Method that we also call as Traditional Alternative Wellness Analytic System and integrate it to the modern method of health assessment and evaluation.
To provide an opportunity to our students to learn and practice different Hilot Treatment Modalities that is integrated to the modern healthcare delivery
To empower our students which are our potential Hilot Binabaylan in providing Home Care Supplementation of Herbal Remedies by introducing them to Plant Medicine.
To Integrate the Practice of Hilot Binabaylan in the National Health Care Delivery System.
In our Upgraded Training Program for Hilot Binabaylan, we are going to discuss the following:
Introduction to the Practice of Hilot
Hilot Diagnostics
Hilot Treatment Methodology
Family Care Hilot Treatment
and lastly Setting Up Hilot Treatment/ Healing Center
These updates that we are making are in compliance to the Philippine Institute of Traditional Alternative Health Care (PITAHC) Competency standards for Manghihilot which are the following:
Embody and Articulate the Hilot Tradition in the community;
Practice Grounding Techniques or Traditional Spiritual Formation;
Conduct Consultation with client/patient according to the Hilot Practice/Tradition;
Perform Traditional Hilot Techniques and related Hilot Modalities;
Prepare, recommend, and instruct the client/patient on the use of Philippine Medicinal Plants according to the Hilot framework;
Document Hilot Practice and client/patient progress;
Assist in Hilot Center Administration;
Manage Hilot Healing Center Services;
Continue Hilot Education and Professional Development;
Work within the Philippines’ Integrated Health Care Delivery System.
So aside from learning Hilot Techniques, we are going also to learn some Laws governing the practice of Hilot in the Philippines so as in the states where you are.
And regarding the Training Fee that we apply on our Training Program, as there is an Inquiry if we do have a local rate. So our Answer is we only have a standard rate for everyone. We in Hilot Academy do maintain same standards on training our students whether they are Filipino in Diaspora or in our native land. As when you come to us, we will book a hotel room for you for accommodation and we also serve food and pick you up at the airport and send you off after class. Though we have made a stay out special class which you are required to go to class 4 hours per session and come back again to complete it. You can see the rate by clicking Course Offering and scroll down to see the list of Special Class offering.
When it comes to the person who inquires in setting up Spa and want to learn Hilot for the Services they want to offer at Spa, I want to emphasize here that I discourage you Learning Hilot Massage Online as it will only reflect to the quality of services you will provide to your client. And this is true right now as I notice, many Spa Therapist only learn Massage Online and do not have even a National Certificate nor Certificate of Registration. So in terms of Training, I recommend you come in person or Invite us and allow us to help you train your therapist and become professional and Legally Accredited Hilot Center in your Area.
We can also help you establish your own Hilot Center which is the local counterpart of Spa. So, if you plan to provide Authentic Traditional Filipino Hilot Treatment, you may email me at apuadman@hilotacademy.com
All the time our body speaks to us but how do we recognize on which part of our Body speaks to us? In western medical studies, Human Anatomy and Physiology is being taught at School but in Hilot Academy, do we teach Human Anatomy and Physiology? The Answer is Yes. We may not be teaching the exact knowledge and information about the Human body but our ancestors have taught us on how to care and treat on the body parts that they think is Vital. It is the same thing how our organs and body parts have names in Filipino, because our ancestors remember the name of the organs or body parts that is relevant and at work all the time. It is just like in everyday of your life, you are dealing with a situation that always happen in a day, you will become a master on it, as you can deal the situation in every angle that it will come.
Now, in the body position, you will notice that the suffix -an is added at the end of the word such as Ulonan pertaining to the upper part or on the area of the head, Paanan pertaining to the lower part of the body belonging to the area of the feet, Tagiliran or side part, Harapan pertaining to the front and Likuran pertaining to the back. Other words that has a suffix -an that pertains to a region or place are Hilagaan (North), Silanganan (East), Katimugan (South), Kalunuran or Kanluran (West), Kaitaasan (Sky World), Kaibabawan (Surface or Middle World), Kailaliman (UNderworld), Kaluwalhatian (Place of Glory/Paradise/Heaven), Kalangitan (Sky world), Kasamaan ( Place of Evil and punishment for retribution).
Well the regions can also be found within our body and to understand better the healing methods of Hilot, we recommend everyone to study and enroll with us on our Hilot Binabaylan Training & Certification. Our ancestors may not have studied medical science at school, but they have their life experiences that have been passed unto us 50,001 years ago.
