Before when an expectant mother is about to give birth, the family member will call a manghihilot to deliver the baby into birth. Now, this duty of Attending Birth has been stripped off from the manghihilot and given to the Registered Midwife.

Before when people need a powerful herb to cure their illness they will consult a manghihilot for prescription but now-a-days people will go to a Physician and Pharmacist for prescription that will only provide relief.

These are few of the many roles of a Manghihilot as a healthcare provider that been stripped off by modernization.

And now-a-days there is an upcoming threat to kill the work of Manghihilot, and we stand for Hilot to be preserved and be on the hands of the Filipino People.

There are illness of a person that a medical doctor could not see inspite of a thorough medical check up and procedure conducted to the individual to provide relief.

In this case, Filipino will consult a Traditional Healer which is a Hilot and ask for a cure.

Damit Tala

September 11,2018 we went early to the Office of Participatory Governance in Malacañang Palace to demonstrate Philipine Traditional Hilot.

We almost not be able to make it because the Palace Guard wont allow one of my companion to enter the ground because of a strict dress code.

Me and mam nina get panic because of the situation and we search for a nearby store just to buy pants so that we could proceed. But we dont find a store nearby.

But thanks to the Diwata, i’ve been reminded to bring malong. So i ask for a comfort room and we change our clothes there and wear the Damit Tala of Binabaylang Hilot.

Amazingly when we change our clothes, the strict palace guard allows us to enter the ground and honot the clothes we wear with highest respect.

Indeed, in order for Hilot to be respected with highest honor we must present our selves with descency and dignity. As Hilot, we do not just wear anything we want to wear, but we must be identified with highest honor through the clothing we wear.

Healing our Home

It is not enough to set up therapeutic environment without cleaning and healing it. Personal Healing must also extend to the environment and also to the Community where we live.

If we cleanse and heal the person without cleaning and healing the environment where that person lives, the illness will come back and the healing you provide will be of no use.

Illness of human being does not only comes from infection due to bacteria or viruses, but also due to emotional, mental and social aspects.

Realms of Hilot

Many people still know Hilot as a form of Massage comparably think of it as similar to Swedish Massage. But did’nt realise that Massage is only one of the realms of Hilot which is categorised into Physical Medicine through its manipulative technique application.

Aside from Massage, Hilot also covers the use of Herbs and Psycho Emotional Counseling through the traditional diagnostic method known as Tawas or what we call as Traditional Alternative Wellness Analytic System.

Since the Goal of Hilot is to Heal, we heal the person Holistically that touches not only the Physical body of the Client, but as well as the Mental, Emotional, Social and Spiritual Body of the Client.

In order to affect cure, the Hilot Practitioner must also work out on the environmental atmosphere where the client lives so that we may prevent the recurence of the illness from the patient when he or she has been cured.

It is like cleaning up the aquarium tank of the Goldfish so that it will not get sick, so as we as Hilot must also cure the place where our client lives to make our treatment effective.

We do not pamper our client/patient as Hilot, but we teach our client to be responsible in taking care of their health.

In Hilot Academy, we diacourage our graduate to provide Home Service to their client because we dont want to tolerate our clients negligence in caring for their own health. In order for Hilot to heal, we must also teach our client to have discipline.
