Prayer in Action: The Hilot Orasyon way

When we think of Prayer, we usually think of it as spoken words addressed to divinity and only the religious could pray. But prayer is not always like that. Prayers can be done by everyone and it could be done by action.

The ways of Hilot such as the Pagpag Exorcism Ritual are a perfect example of Prayer in Action. Prayer is a form of Spiritual Development that could also be used in healing.

As Hilot, we believe that all life comes from the Divine and maintaining life is the sacred duty of all beings and prayer is a means of strengthening of connection with the Divine which is the source of Life.

Lana: Distilled Coconut Oil Making

We are cooking Lana last time with Miss Ryah, a Filipina by Birth but raised up in Viena, Austria. Every year she makes pilgrimage way back home to the Philippines to strengthen her comnection to her roots.

On this years journey, she enrolled to study Hilot Binabaylan with us and learn to make Lana Coconut Oil to be used for her healing works.

As we make the lana, we have recited the myth why there is coconut and also the sacredness of coconut.

As we put to boil the coconut milk into the pan, i started to recite the myth that there were 3 powerful Gods longtime ago in the Philippines. One is Bathalang Maykapal who rules the Earth; then Ulilang Kaluluwa (lonely soul) which is a serpent that lives in the cloud; and Galang Kaluluwa ( wondering soul) who fly over every plane of existence.

One day, Ulilang Kaluluwa who is the flyimg serpent saw the Earth which Bathalang Maykapal is the ruler. He challenge Bathala for a fight for rulership but unfortunately Ulilang Kaluluwa lose the fight and died. As good ruler of the Earth, Bathala gave an honorable burial to Ulilang Kaluluwa.

Then after a few years, the Friendly Galang Kaluluwa went on Earth to Visit Bathala and stayed with him. As Galang Kaluluwa stay with Bathala,he became weak and died. So Bathala again buried Galang Kaluluwa to the grave where he also buried Ulilang Kaluluwa.

After few days, Bathala notice that there is a tree that grew on the grave where he buried Galang Kaluluwa anh Ulilang Kaluluwa. The body of the Tree looks like the serpentine body of Ulilang Kaluluwa and the leaves of the tree looks like the wings of Galang Kaluluwa and when Bathala open the fruit of the tree, it looks like a head with two eyes and a mouth. And the tree that grows in the grave of Ulilang Kaluluwa ang Galang Kaluluwa is now we know as the Coconut Tree.

Shake off the dirt

Have you ever felt that you woke up one morning but still you feel lazy to work that is not usual to you? Or you notice that whatever you do you are not obtaining positive result to all your efforts even you know well that you do the right thing?

You know that you are ok but it seems that everything around you doesnt work out as you expect it to be.

Dont worry everything is all right. What you need to do is stop and shake off the negative vibes around you.

This is what Pagpag Exorcism Ritual Does. It is like dusting off the dirt that attached to you by breaking it down then rinsing you by the Divine Light through orasyon. The dirt that attached to you are external factors that makes you slow down your work and progress.

You deserve to live a happy and progressive life, but in our life it is unavoidable to face challenges like people that you meet and try to influence you or to the worst dominate you to do what they want. Pleasing other people by letting them control your life is unhealthy.

You own your own life and you alone are responsible in living it. You may meet other people around you and that is fine. But if the people you meet tries to control your life by letting you do what they want is not ok. What you need is different from what they want. Be sure that you live your life according to what you need and not to what other people tell you what to do.

Shaking them off out of your system will allow you to move freely and independently. Those people who try to control your life are social parasites and psychic vampires that will drain out the lifeforce that is within you. It will change you according to what they want and leaving you without a choice of living your own life. They will dump your own identity by changing you to what they want you to become. So we need to get rid of it into our life and shake them off.

Hilot Binabaylan re awakening in Viena, Austria

Last year during the Healing Festival at Siquijor, me and lakay have a met a group of people from Viena, Austria which are Filipino-Austrian having a vacation pilgrimage in the Philippines

And this year, we are blessed enough to have one of them to be our student of Binabaylan Hilot and she is Myss Ria.

Her training started with a cleansing and dedication ritual that was attuned to Friday the 13th which opened up her self to the Great Powers to help her in doing the work of a healer.

A demonstration that being a healer as a bearer of light that will shine on darkness, to alleviate the suffering of people from illness not only to the physical body but as well to the emotion, mind and spirit.

Today, we great fun of sharing the art and science of “tawas” as the traditional diagnostic procedure in determining the cause of illness.

Pilay

Yesterday a person came in to our office at Kingspoint Subd., Novaliches, Quezon City to inquire about our upcoming trainings at Hilot Academy. As we have share some of our views about Philippine Traditional Medicine, i ask this person his view and knowledge of Pilay.

So what do you understand about pilay? Is there an appropriate word in english to describe this malady?

Most Filipino still think that the word “pilay” means fracture of the bones, clipped nerve (ipit ugat), twisted muscles or sprain, dislocated joints (tipalok) and so on and so forth.

But “pilay” is not like that. Pilay is a word that simply means an illness. It is not a word to describe illness or pain because the word we use to describe the pain and illness is “sakit”.

Pilay literally means a break. A break from the natural order thus some Filipino confusingly termed pilay into fracture.

Like fracture, pilay is a condition of health where the natural flow of wellness has been disturbed thus we get ill. If we get sick, we usually have pilay. And Pilay is the illness of the body that limits our function physically, mentally, emotionally, socially and spiritually.

In order to cure pilay, the manghihilot determine first the cause of illness by performing Tawas Ritual. And through tawas, the hilot can specifically work out in giving cure to pilay.

Tawas: Spiritual Diagnosis

Tawas is an ancient Filipino art of Diagnosing an illness. In ancient times, Filipino’s don’t have medical doctor to treat people illness. Our ancestors consult Traditional HEalers such as Babaylan, Albularyo and Hilot to restore their optimum health and wellness.

In ancient times, Filipino believe that illness is caused by a malevolent spirits (maligno); and the interaction of humans to these spirits might cause either good or bad, and the spirits can induce harm not only to the physical body but also to our mind and spirit.

Backup and restore

I know everyone has an android or smartphone, isn’t it? And the common problem that we encounter with our mobile device is hanging up. This situation make us freeze what we are doing because we are waiting for our phone to comeback so that we can work again.

But what technique do you do when your mobile device is constantly hanging up?

Yesterday, i had an unpleasant experience with my phone that is hanging up. It won’t allow me access social media even to do text messages. The reason for it is that its memory is full. So i need to back up all my files and reset my phone to restore its activity.

In our life, sometimes our activities have been stopped due to some struggles that we can’t move on. These struggles are due to past memory of experiences that we can’t get over. Sometimes in order to move on and restore our activity, we need to backup and delete those memory so that we can start all over again.

What had happened to us in the past will never be changed. It already happened in the past and not in the present. The only thing we could do now is to live in our present and create happy memories with our current actions in our life.

Tawas or Spiritual Diagnosis and counselling could help us to move one with our life. Pagpag Exorcism Ritual could help us shake off this past unpleasant memories so that we can move on and live a better life.

Hilot could help us see our purpose and live our life to the fullest.

What Massage Oil to use in Hilot?

There are many massage oils that are available in the market now-a-days but not all of it are advisable to use. Most of the massage oils that being sold are made of Mineral oil but in hilot we discourage the use of Mineral oil but use Nutritive Oil instead.

Hilot Massage uses oil not only for the lubrication of the skin but it also have the function of nourishing the body through topical application of the Nutritive oil towards the skin. The best massage oil that hilot could use are the nutritive ones or the oil that can also be taken internally as a food like vegetable oil. This is why Hilot recommend the use of Virgin Coconut Oil in massage. But if VCO is not availble, any vegetable oil is applicable to use.

How much is the cost of Hilot?

Researchers of Philippine Traditional Medicine goes to places around the archepelago to experience the amazing healing touch of manghihilot. Mostly authentic hilot can be found in rural areas that is far away from the civilized society.

The Manghihilot (hilot provider) are the primary healthcare specialist where the common people consult with not only because of its effectivity but also for its affordability.

Now-a-days, authentic hilot are rare to find even the government provide training of Hilot Wellness Massage through TESDA and DoH. The hilot they teach is a commercialized massage that people confuse it with swedish massage. And sad to say still many people have a stigma of Hilot as Folk Medicine and quackery.

Indeed Hilot is a Folk Medicine that is nearly come to its extinction. The knowledge of Hilot as Traditional Medicine of the Filipino People is almost forgotten in exchange for higher income profession.

When you ask a child now-a-days of what the child will become when they grow old, no one will say that they want to become a Hilot.

But why?

Because people think that hilot is not a good income opportunity profession. Manghihilot only charge minimun amout or either accept donations only. The donation ranges from a pack of cigarette, bunch of banana, tray of eggs, etc.

But in doing Hilot, the provider spend a lot of energies from the time, knowledge of determining the cause of illness, planning the appropriate treatment modality to apply, use of herbs and other things that hilot will use before and after treatment.

The Hilot spend a lot rather than what s/he recieves. This shows that Hilot has a great value of Pakikipag Kapwa and pakikisama.

Kapwa is a Filipino Term that originates from the word kaputol ng kaluluwa ( a piece of the soul). Thus pakikipagkapwa is an art of unification of the individual soul to the Universal Soul or the word (us).

This pakikipagkapwa thing that the hilot has make hilot to reject payment from their client/patient. But what the client/patient did not realise is the value of the Hilot a manghihilot provide is much more greater that the amount of money could be spent.

What manghihilot work with is that we are restoring wellness to improve life.

Now if we talk about life, how much is the cost of life now-a-days?
