With so much pride and excitement, We would like to welcome our newest member in the Hilot Academy of Binabaylan LERA PADUA for successfully completed the Hilot Pahid: The Art and Science of Philippine Wellness Massage this May 5, 2019. Lera is an Energy Healer practicing Reiki and Pranic Healing. She took Hilot to integrate our Indigenous Healing Arts and Science with her Energy Healing modality. Aside from Integration, Lera would love to learn more about our Indigenous and Cultural HEaling Modalities that is our Pride as a Filipino.

Initially Lera took Hilot Pahid: The Art and Science of Philippine Wellness Massage. During our Class, we have shared to her that PAhid is the appropriate term for Filipino Wellness Massage rather than Hilot because Hilot is the General Term for Medicine. WE also have shared to Lera that Massage is just one of the many Modalities that been practised in Hilot and in order to be a proficient Manghihilot one must master all the skill level that been recommended to become a Manghihilot.

So in taking Hilot Pahid Course what you will become is just a MAssage Therapist; but in order to become a Qualified Manghihilot you have to take all the Skills Competency required to become a Manghihilot.

Hilot as we define it is the Traditional Medicine of the Philippines. It is the sum total of Knowledge, Skills and practices based on the theories, beliefs, and experiences indigenous to different cultures, whether explicable or not, used in the maintenance of health as well as in the prevention, diagnosis, improvement or treatment of Physical and Mental Illness.

SO in order to become a qualified Manghihilot, you must know how to perform the Traditional Alternative Wellness Analytic System or Tawas. We must know how to determine the cause of an illness and check on the status of the current health of our Patient. We also have shared that aside from Hilot Pahid, a manghihilot also must know the use of herbs, Heat, Light, Time and Prayer in affecting cure to our patient.

But for now, Hilot Academy congratulates and Welcome you to our group of Manghihilot.

Pakikiramay or Condolences: A Hilot for the Family who have died a love one

As i practice Hilot over the years, i am learning new things on my daily practice as i provide Hilot to the people especially to my Family Members. I learn Hilot not only as a Physical Medicine that heals the body but also as a medicine that could heal the soul. All of us wanted to live a happy life and Hilot could help us obtain it by having a healthy Body, Mind and Soul. Holistic Wellness as i learn into my journey does not only rely on the Physical Health but also on how a certain body will welcome Death.

img20190221153704-312668394.jpgOn April 19, 2019 by 8:30 PM my Beloved Mother Raquel Payco Gomez Comon have already crossed the veil to the After Life peacefully. She have survived Mutliple Stroke, Chronic Kidney Disease and Hip Replacement Surgery at the age of 68. She have received love and care from our Family members specially from her Husband and Children. Allopathic and Traditional Health care have been implemented to her as well as Emotional and Spiritual care have been provided.

As my Mother’s caregiver and Hilot, Healing have been applied to her successfully that for 4 months of caring she had enjoyed life with us her family. Now that my mother have passed away, healing and caring is continually given not to her body but now to her soul and to the souls of her family member. Nightly vigil and visitation for the condolences from the People whom my mother have touched will help her soul to reach peacefully her place in the afterlife as well as for us to receive comfort and healing.

My Mother is my number 1 fan and advocate in Hilot Academy and through her i made a vow to advance Traditional, Indigenous and Natural Medicine in the Philippines. As my mother strive her best to make a one foot step forward, I believe that our Hilot will be the same.

I thought to my self that i will give up Hilot, but through her spirit i was encourage to continue this devotion of promoting Hilot as Traditional Medicine in the Philippines.

Hangin Lamig now has commercial remedy

One of the Maladies that Hilot can cure is what we call Pilay Hangin or Pilay Lamig. Many FIlipino would tell when they are sick that they are “Nahanhinan” or “Nalamigan”.

“Pilay” is the accurate term for being sick rather than “Sakit” because the later word describe the severity of pain when the person is sick. Most People confuse “Pilay” to fracture but if we dig in Philosophically indeed “Pilay” is a result of breaking from the natural law thus we get sick.

Pilay Hangin is an illness caused by Wind. Such as Colic Pain, Chest Pain and even heartburn pain. It is a condition where air is trapped within the hollow vessels within our body such as the stomach, lungs, heart, bladder, etc.

Whereas Pilay Lamig or cold syndrome is an illness that affects the flow of natural fluid within our body that blocks its natural flow. Usually we feel lumps has been developed in our shoulder, neck, armpit and legs.

Natural Environmental condition can also contribute for having these illnesses to man. Thus our ancestors got a cure for these illnesses and now we can find them at Commercial Drug Store.

LOLA REMEDIOS

I first encounter Lola Remedios Sachet Syrup when i was working in a BPO Company in Quezon City. I didn’t feel well as my work that time requires me to serve on a night shift. I got cough, flu and almost feverish but i can not leave my post. So i take a break and went to a nearby convenience store and saw Lola Remedios.  At first i am sceptic about the product. But as i look at what it is made of i bought it and tried it to my self and it works well with me. The Convenience of buying Lola Remedios is that it is quick and ready made. You will just tear off the sachet and put it in your mouth to drink the syrup. After 15 minutes i am relieved. It was indeed an instant remedy that is within reach.

Though this product is important from Indonesia by Kino Consumer Philippines Inc. and packed according to the taste of the Filipino.

TULAK ANGIN ( WIND PUSHER)

This is another brand of Herbal Supplements that is introduced to the Philippines from Indonesia which is called Tulak Angin. “Tulak” means Push and “Angin” means Air. The video above can be a source of inspiration to all of our Manghihilot to believe on the power of their medicine which your grow by your self. Like in the video, Sidumuncul spend time on their studies perfecting the medicine they provide for the people.

Though again, this herbal supplement product is imported from Indonesia.

Filipino Salabat

With the importation of these Herbal Supplements, Filipino’s are relying on to the imported brand rather patronising our local products and services. The role of Manghihilot is diminishing due to the giving of High Priority of the Philippine Government to these imported Products.

But for a long time, Filipino used Salabat or Ginger Brew to cure these maladies.

Let us watch Doctor Liza Ramoso Ong on how to make Salabat.

Correspondent for Thesis

I recieved an email dated March 25, 2019 from a Student of Ateneo De Manila University that says:

Greetings,

My name is Ignacio and I am writing my thesis on traditional medicine, specifically on the manghihilots who practice hilot and how these manghihilots transmit, construct, and reconstruct knowledge and practice of hilot.
I am looking for manghihilots to interview and I am contacting Hilot Academy Binabaylan because I am interested in interviewing manghihilots trained by the association as well as the manghihilots who hold the training classes. If I may ask, I am also interested in interviewing Mr. Apu Adman Aghama.
I am hoping that we can schedule some interviews during March 31- April 5. Please let me know if there are any manghihilots willing to be interviewed. I am also flexible in terms of the location of the interview.
Hoping to hear from you soon.”

I responded to his invitation to become a correspondent and this day March 31, 2019 he arrived to the Shrine with his questionaires and the interview lasted from 3pm to 7pm.

We are so glad that Ignacio came through his academic writings we have delivered the current status of Hilot in our country. We have shared that the hilot that the current society know such as the commercial spa hilot is different from the Hilot of our ancestors.

Hilot Recipe: Basic Herbal Cure Workshop

How much do you spend just for medicine a month? My mother had a multiple stroke, chronic kidney disease and recently had a hip replacement surgery that made her immobile for about a month. From her hospitalization we almost spend a Million Peso to restore her wellness. And now she had prescription for maintenance and that will cost us Php 10,000.00++ monthly.

Living has a high cost so as in sickness and death. When we get sick we have no choice but go to the Doctor to recieve treatment. But when we are okay, we used to be reluctant in taking care of health.

But Prevention is better than cure. We can prevent spending a lot of money because of health issue if we know how to be in control with our health.

Hilot Recipe: Basic Herbal Cure Workshop will empower you to be in charge of your health. We will share to you some natural and traditional healthcare practices and cure of simple illnesses that will prevent you from spending a lot of money from synthetic drugs.

From this workshop you will learn how to extract oil, make herbal balm, liniment, tincture, herbal tea, syrups and even herbal soap.

This event will happen on April 7, 2019 from 9 am to 6pm at Luntiang Aghama Natural Divine Arts Shrine of Healing Inc. Lot 79 Phase A, Francisco Homes Narra, City of San Jose Del Monte, Bulacan.

As we open up our selves to these children, we have talked about their ability to move things using their power of the mind. Here shows that with focused intention and team work they can lift heavy objects or person with minimum strength using only their fingers.

On our workshop, we will talk about the characteristics of physical pain, emotional, mental, social and spiritual illness and its cure. The lifting/ levitation demonstration is just one natural ability that everyone has when they have a focused intention. Though this skills has an early workshop to conduct which is the Psychic Awareness and Skills Development that will happen on January 6, 2019 from 1:00PM to 6:00 PM at Lot 79 Phase A, Francisco Homes Narra, City of San Jose Del Monte, Bulacan.

Tawas: A Hilot method of Diagnosis

Tawas is an abstract form of communication whereas the practitioner of Tawas gather information from the subject utilizing tools such as paper, water, candle, oils and others to observe and analyze form and symbols. It is a indigenous art of Divination and Diagnosis practiced by rural folks to determine the cause of illness.

In Hilot or Philippine Traditional Medicine, the cause of illness is not limted to Physical factor but also through emotional, mental, social and spiritual factor thus Filipino believe in Usog, Buyag, Gaba, Bati, Kulam, Engkanto and Multo.

Ancient Filipino view life as a Divine Gift so as in having illness is viewed as a punishment. In this concept of life, Health is a condition of life where you are experiencing good health which is known as kaginhawaan and bad health condition as karamdaman. Wellness and Illness condition of man is a result of mans response in doing their life purpose.

Life is characterized by motion and movement, so in the concept of life purpose there must have growth and progression. When growth and progression is absent into one person not only physically but holistically, Tawas is performed to determine the malady that causes illness and implement cure.

Tawas ritual start with silencing of the mind of both the pratitioner and the recipient. The Magtatawas will ask permission to the Divine Creator to allow him or her be used as a medium of healing and will call on the Higher and Lower self of the patient.

Then using a small piece of blank paper, the magtatawas will swipe it over around the body of the patient from head, shoulder, arms, hands, chest, stomach, legs, feet, and back parts of the body.

The magtatawas will put 3 drops of oil to the palm of the patient and will place the paper on it and be covered with another palm and start to connect one another in a prayer position.

The praying hands will be placed in front of the heart, then to fore head and lastly to the stomach with the paper still inside the praying hands. And the magtatawas will ask the patient to release the hands and will get the paper and will introduce it to the flames of the consecrated lamp or candle and will read the shapes and symbols formed.

From our last Tawas workshop that was held on November 25, 2018 at the Shrine of Luntiang Aghama in San Jose Del Monte City, Bulacan they reported that while doing tawas they are like looking at a story board as the read the images formed in the Paper Tawas. Their Psychic senses has also been enhanced and was able to develop Empathy which is essential in doing Healing Works.

From our Workshop we have produced the Millenial Magtatawas from the persons of the following:

  • Doctor Aris Siazon (Doctor of Homeopathy)
  • Wilma Villalba
  • Rovie Dela Cruz
  • Meliton Siazon

Congratulations to our new Magtatawas and welcome to Hilot Academy of Binabaylan.

If you are interested to learn the Ancient Art of Tawas or other Hilot Modality, you may write us an email for schedule through hilot.binabaylan@gmail.com or you may call and text us at +639952467040
