Hilot in Camiguin Island

It is an island province in the Philippines located in the Bohol Sea, about 10 kilometers off the northern coast of Mindanao. It is geographically part of Region X which is the Northern Mindanao Region and formerly part of Misamis Oriental Province.

The name Camiguin is derived from the native word Kamagong which is a specie of Ebony tree that thrives near Lake Mainit in the province of Surigao Del Norte, the region from which the early inhabitant, the Manobo’s came from. Manobo’s are Indigenous People that comes from Northern Mindano which are known as The River People. It is derived from the word “Mansuba” which means man or people, and “suba” means river. It is said that Manobo people are great hunter and as well as a healer.

I found a story on the Internet that narrates how the Manobo People originates and you can found the info at Things Asian.

According to the Story  the Manobo’s were lead by two brothers: Mumalu and Tabunaway, they lived by the Banobo creek, which flowed into the Mindanao River near the present site of Cotabato City. In the 14th century Sharif Kabungsuan, a muslim missionary, arrived from Johore, to convert the people of Mindanao. Tabunaway did not want to convert to Islam but told his younger brother not to reject the Muslim Faith. Tabunaway and his followers moved up the Pulangi River to the interior of Cotabato, they decided to part ways and in the years to come established their own tribes. These groups retained their indigenous beliefs, practices and the name of their original site, Banobo, which eventually became Manobo, the descendant’s of Mamalu became the Maguindanao.

It is nice to know that the people of Camiguin are descendants from the Manobo Tribe which also connects to my lineage that my Paternal Ancestry comes from Surigao Del Norte.

From June, July and August of 2020, Hilot Academy will explore the Beauty and Wonders of Camiguin Island as we will conduct our very first Halikana Workshop as conceived by our friend Archimedes De Leon.

Halika Na! (Come Now!)

Have you watched The Avengers Endgame? I noticed that all of the world Super Hero was there except for the Filipino.

When we first saw this movie i thought that Filipino Super Heroes can stand alone such as Darna, Captain Barbel, Pedro Penduko and Super Inggo. But in times that we are in now, i believe all of our Superheroes must come together and work as One.

This is the call for all of us not only the Filipino but also other nationality that has a calling to heal the world. Let us all Come together and awaken our Healing Abilities to heal the world through the Halika Na Workshop in Camiguin Islands, Philippines.

Halika Na Workshop is envisioned by Archimedes Miranda De Leon, Founder of Hanuman Yoga Center in San Francisco, California, USA.

Ginger Tea as Immune Booster and Disinfectant

Prevention is better than cure specially right now when there is no cure for 2019 Coronavirus Disease (Covid 19). Since there are no known cure for this new disease but it’s symptoms are already known as it can be found published on the internet and news media.

The Symptoms for this disease are:

  • Runny nose
  • Sore throat
  • Fough
  • Fever
  • and difficulty in breathing (severe cases)

The symptoms are known already so we must prevent to have one of those listed symptoms. World Health Organization have released an advice on how we can protect our selves being contaminated with this new virus.

https://www.who.int/emergencies/diseases/novel-coronavirus-2019/advice-for-public

It is said that cleaning our hands with soap and water or hand sanitizer will kill the viruses that are present in our hands. We must cover our mouth when coughing or sneezing then sanitize again our hands to prevent the spread of contamination.

The main public scare here is when a person sneeze or cough, people will think that you are infected with Coronavirus. And with that Social Distancing of 3 feet apart are advised so that we can avoid contamination.

Again we are warned to distance our selves to the persons with cough and fever. So at this moment, when you have cough and fever you will be likely a scare bomb to the public. With this we must take care of ourselves and strengthen our immune system so that we do not get sick.

Our Ancestors have taught us simple techniques on how to strengthen our immunity and that is through drinking Salabat (Ginger) Tea. It is believed that drinking Ginger Tea will help you in the following areas:

  • Relieve Nausea
  • Improve Stomach performance
  • Reduce Inflamation
  • Fight Respiratory problems
  • Improve Blood Circulation
  • Relieve Menstrual Discomfort
  • Strengthen Immunity
  • and Relieve Stress

Aside from drinking Ginger Tea, we can use the infused rhizomes of Ginger as disinfectant. So there is no need to panic buying on rubbing alcohol or hand sanitiser because we can use Ginger Tea to disinfectour hands to kill viruses.

Natural Disinfectant

Due to Covid 19 outbreak worldwide, people around the world do panic buying and hoarding disinfectant such as 70% rubbing alcohol and sanitizer.

But did you know that mother nature provides natural cure and disinfectant? Yes, it does! But how?

Many Filipino cook rice. And as we prepare rice we wash it. And many of us throw to the sink the washed rice water.

But did you know that we can ferment the rice water and become a natural disinfectant. We do this by adding salt and sugar to the rice water kept on a tight cap bottle. After 24 hours it will become a Lactic Acid Bacteria that we can use for disinfectant.

You can learn more about Lactic Acid Bacteria by checking this site:

Past to present

Most likely if people work on memories, we only hear them through stories in the present time. But experiencing the moment of the past in the present days are different. It channels the past to be move in the present day to make the past alive. These process of making the past to be alive in the present are known as restoration such as an old model of car fixed so that it can be used today.

Healing Pain

Since last night as we practice the Body works of Hilot we encounter to experience pain as we apply pressure on their body. This pain is a good pain which we can embrace because as we apply pressure to the body part it will gradually fade away.

Rewarding Effort of Revival

Today is the 3rd to the last day of Hilot ng Aghamang Binabaylan Training that we conduct at Tagaytay Tropical Green Subdivision which is the house of Lakapati Filipinas Inc. that is our participant and volunteer for this class. Introduction to Plant Medicine Spirits during Hilot ng Aghamang Binabaylan Training

The Hilot ng Aghamang Binabaylan is an 8 days intensive training that is divided into two parts. The First part of the training focuses on the Mind/ Spirit workings that will orient you to the Ancient Filipino Indigenous Spiritual Beliefs and practices such as in the belief to the Anito, Diwata and Enkanto; the 7 souls of Man; The Filipino Concept of Life, Health, Illness and Wellness; Tawas or traditional method of Diagnosis or Divination; and the importance of performing ritual in healing to affect cure.

Tawas sa Papel as a diagnostic and divinatory tool

While the second part of the training focuses on Body Works or the application of necessary actions to affect cure such as in performing Suob/ Palina Ritual, Pagpag- Pauli Ritual, Dagdagay, Bentusa, Pagsasala and Hilot Pahid. It is important for our Manghihilot or Hilot Binabaylan to be proficient in both aspect of working with the spirits as well as in performing body works as we believe that our life comes from the spirit and life blessings comes from the spirit.

Hilot ng Aghamang Binabaylan is offered all year round and can be arranged by reserving a schedule with us. For more information you may contact Apu Adman Aghama by sending us an email at hilot.binabaylan@gmail.com or at whats app at +639480177571.

Hilot makes us happy

When we are sick it give us pain and loneliness. Our situation make us worry about the future and many what if’s of our life. No one likes to keep the pain and suffering thus we want to take it off in our system and be well. This is what Hilot is bringing you and that is to stop the pain and suffering by giving you relief and happiness to enjoy your life.

Happy face of our Binabaylan Hilot

At first we see pain as indicator that your mind is responding to an external stimulus. Since we determine that there is pain, we can work out that pain and remove it by smoothing it out through application of our healing oil and herbal supplement. Indeed you will feel extreme pain while we perform the treatment but after that you will feel relief.

Apu assessing the patient response towards pain

As Manghihilot we are the bringer of Happiness to our patients by relieving them from their pain and suffering. We provide them inspiration to motivate them living their life to the fullest with optimism and trust in their own ability that everything will be okay.
